Praise for Dorothea Barth's story Cowgirl (Summer 2011 issue, Lawrence Magazine)
"A rare exception of a writer outside Lawrence being tapped for an article in the magazine. But the theme of learning to ride ponies inside Lawrence was wonderfully LM, the writing was tight and vivid and the time period that it covered—the mid 1960s—was a perfect match for our demographics. Additional kudos to Dorothea for her patience as we carved out a space on her timeless submission over the course of two years."
Nathan Pettengill, Editor, Lawrence Magazine
Dorothea Barth has also written under the following names: Dorothy Barth, Dorothy van Joolen-Barth. and Dorothée Barth.
She was born in The Netherlands, where one version of her first name was Dorothée. After moving to the U.S., she Americanized her name to Dorothy but later continued to use Dorothée in some of her writing.
